me vs. the carpet fuzz

We have builder grade carpet in our house. The house was built already when we found it so we didn't choose the carpet...please remind me next time I move to find a house or to build a house with upgraded carpet. I said all that to explain my next story.

I cannot win the battle against the fuzz in our house. It is everywhere. No matter what I do, it just appears. Seriously, when you walk across the room it makes fuzz. Fortunately, Audrey isn't a "put-things-in-her-mouth" kind of girl. However, we did teach her that when she picks things up that aren't toys, she is supposed to bring them to mommy....and everytime she does this I tell her "thank you."

Well, today I was sitting on the floor and we were playing and reading in her room...and I was in the middle of reading her a story and she took off to play with something else. (big shocker since she is incapable of being still) Well, being the reader that I am I kept reading...and all of a sudden I hear her about an inch from my ear, yelling "thank you!" and she sticks a piece of carpet fuzz in my face. I thought this was very cute...until I realized that she was going to continue. :) Really, it was cute although the carpet fuzz disgusts me, I am so grateful she chooses to share it rather than eat it. Fortunately, I was able to implement the ever faithful "mommy distraction" and we moved on....I was beginning to think that carpet fuzz was going to be the theme of our day.

On another note, my ultrasound was good this morning. Everything appears healthy, but the pregnancy/baby was measuring smaller than we expected so we are going back next week for a follow up. The good news is that the technician saw the flutter of a heartbeat but since it was so early, she couldn't get a measure of it. I think I would have been scared if she couldn't see it at all. I don't think there is ever a time during pregnancy that you can feel totally comfortable with everything until you are holding that precious baby in your arms...but I think getting through this first trimester will be such a relief....and then maybe I'll even be able to survive without naps. I am NOT a nap person...the only time I've enjoyed them was college. They seem like such a waste of time to me...anyway, every day that isn't a workday, I've taken a nap during Audrey's nap. I think I'd be a zombie otherwise. :)
