I'm in a good mood. Audrey is sleeping peacefully, I actually have some energy, I'm sitting in the same room as Ryan, and we're watching the All Star Game. It doesn't get much better than that.
Today has been a great day. This morning we had our 1st doctor appointment for the new little munchkin. I'm happy to report that all appears to be well. Nicole's mom Vikki came to play with Audrey for a little while so Ryan could go with me to the appointment. After a long wait in the waiting room and filling out all the paperwork, we finally make it back to the exam room. I was so nervous after I peed in that stupid little cup that they were going to tell us that I was wrong and we weren't pregnant, but she came in with a smile and a "congratulations" so that was a relief.
She talked to us for a long time - which I'm sure she did the 1st time too - but I was much more "aware" this time. I guess it's because I've been through it before. I got permission to continue taking my Flintstones Complete vitamins in lieu of prenatals so I was thrilled about that. I did that last pregnancy too... I hate taking horse pills and there is no need to pay for a prescription when they have the same ingredients for $6 at any given grocery store.
I also was excited that they now have a flobotomist (mom, forgive me if I misspelled that...) in the office now! I have heard the term before...but now I can use it with confidence :) Anyway, long story short...now I don't have to drive to another location and have my blood drawn. There is a lady in the office that does it full-time. Before, I sat in a tiny office with every person sent from the hospital to have blood drawn - and most of them were elderly or they talked too much for their own good. So, today they drained 5 vials.... the fun begins.
I will go back on Friday for follow up bloodwork just to confirm that this isn't an ectopic pregnancy. Since I've had one in the past, the risk is higher for me.... Soon we will have an ultrasound to determine their official due date but I'm still calculating to the weekend of March 10th so we'll see how close I am. :)
We told Audrey today that there is a baby in mommy's tummy. We have been talking about having a brother or a sister but we got her to say "baby" and point to me stomach. I know she doesn't understand, but it was still very cute.
Her vocabulary is just continuing to explode. She is adding new words everyday and she is keeping us entertained. Today Charlotte started barking at something outside and all of a sudden I hear Audrey say "HUSH!" My jaw just dropped.... It is amazing how much they pick up on... and that one made me smile.
She is also going around saying "sit" all the time. You can probably guess that we are asking her to do that quite often....the problem is that when she says it, it doesn't come out quite so clearly. :) I hope people understand that we don't walk around using bad language at our house !
Most little girls love on their dolls and feed them and nurture them. Our little firecracker likes to teach hers how to jump. She holds them so their little feet touch the ground and then she says "jump! jump! jump!" and bounces them up and down.... let's hope she doesn't try that with the new baby.
Tonight we took Audrey to the park after dinner. She had such a blast! She actually stayed on the swing for longer than a minute - she was fascinated with the toys that spray water mist. She kept running underneath saying "wooo-oooh!" and sticking her little arms out! Her little face gets so beet red when she plays. We kept giving her plenty of water and making sure she cooled off in the water...and she played hard for about 45 minutes. When it was time to leave we said "bye bye" to the slides, swings and the park and we were successful in leaving without tears.
Her daddy was in charge of bathtime tonight...so if by chance you see her tomorrow and wonder why she smells like a walking cough drop - he is to blame! We always use the lavender baby wash for her - it smells SO good. We have lots of other stuff though that we have tried on occasion. In the tub there is the green Johnson's baby wash that is intended for babies with colds... I tried it once when she was sick and didn't like it. Well, Ryan decided that he liked it when he sniffed it so not only did he bathe her in it, but he WASHED HER HAIR with it.... mommy definitely had to laugh. mmmmmmm.........menthol.
and my favorite addition to Audrey's language... she is learning to say "I love you." She has a stuffed frog named "baby tad" that says all sorts of things. If you push the lips on his cheek, he makes a smooch sound and says "i love you." Ryan has been working with her and now she is starting to say it :)
well, being pregnant with a toddler is an interesting venture. so far it hasn't been as scary as i've anticipated but there is plenty of time yet to go. I have been forcing myself to take naps while Audrey takes hers and that has helped a ton....I don't think I'd make it past 8 o'clock otherwise.
well, happy all star day!
