Audrey did great talking to my mom (grammommy) on the phone. Since then, grammy and aunt stacy have called and she has not been too interactive. She cannot wait to open her presents (which are in the "man room", my big screen tv room)! Happy Birthday Audrey
Here was how we started our morning! Jenny had to go to work today, so she is up dressed but the rest of the house is kind of bumming. Audrey wanted to leave her jammies on, so the birthday girl's wish is the birthday girl's command.

like a thief in the night....
It's come to my attention that my blog has been hijacked! I can't believe that I'm actually having to acknowledge myself so you know who's writing. (this is Jenny...just to clear up any confusion) That being said, I guess I deserve it. It's been way too long since I've posted anything.
We're in the process of transitioning from Christmas to Audrey's birthday on New Year's Eve! Our goal is always to make her birthday special (Ava's too of course), but we just never want Audrey's to get lost in all the holiday craziness. Her 1st non-family birthday party is this coming weekend. Should I be scared?? I tend to get overwhelmed in unfamiliar situations. We'll see how it goes...Thank goodness for Ryan. I can't believe she's going to be 4!
Maybe I'll post a few pictures just to get back into the swing of things!

Long Night at the Office
Audrey woke up at 2:30 a.m. screaming last night as she had thrown up all over her bed. Jenny changed sheets while I bathed her. The three of us slept downstairs on the couch and floor. She is weak today but is feeling much better. Her analysis of the situation is that since she is sick she cannot see anyone as we could not take her to Five Star and we had to cancel her favorite babysitter for tonight. So, here is her message to everyone!

No Wonder She Won't Sleep?
I don't think you are supposed to give much caffeine to a 15 month old, but I (Ryan, yes, again) had a moment of weakness this afternoon. Ava saw me turn on the video camera as I set my Diet Coke down on the table. It seems like she smiles just to get a sip, and, you guessed it, I'm a sucker for a little girl and her smile.
At the very beginning you hear her say "Cheese!" when she sees the camera. She's figuring, "If I give him what he wants, he'll give me what I want." Rest assured that it doesn't work like that often around our house, but like I said, a moment of weakness set in today.
Let the record reflect, immediately following the "Cheese", I do try to give her some puffs (basically, cereal for infants that melts in their mouth) to stave off the caffeine. You can hear the puffs hit the tray, but evidently, she wanted no part of the puffs, only the caffeine. So I gave her a sipof the Diet Coke and you see the smile I get afterwards. She was soooo cute that I had to give her a second sip.
Two sips, so shoot me! That's the life of a daddy! How do you think they become "daddy's girls" anyway?

Merry Christmas

Elf on the Shelf = Hugs for Daddy
I do not get on here often as I think this may be my second BLOG (awesome word by the way) ever, but this is Ryan for a quick Christmas BLOG (had to say it one more time).
The Girl's Visit Santa
Moving on, what else has been going on in our lives? The girl's went to see Santa in my mom's neighborhood clubhouse. What a deal that is! We did not have to wait at all, we made an appointment and just dropped in for our pictures. Since I hate traffic and lines, it was perfect...that is, until Ava sat in Santa's lap. I will not say anything else about the event, because the picture will suffice.

Elf on the Shelf
Most of you may already know what the Elf on the Shelf is, but if not, I will give you a quick run down of our friendly new addition of our family. Although the Elf made his debut last year (courtesy of Jenny's mom), his impact has only been fully realized in 2008. The very abbreviated version of the Elf on the Shelf is that Santa sent the Elf to our house to watch the girls and report back to Santa whether they are naughty or nice. Needless to say, whenever there may be the slightest bit of difficulty on the parenting front, we can turn to Audrey and warn her that the Elf is watching her. This one little warning will change her attitude in an instant. Hey, don't judge us for having a trump card or child management for 1 out of 12 months, it's like parenting bliss at our house.
All of this brings me to the title of the BLOG (last time, I promise). Audrey was going to bed tonight and Jenny was going to take her up (and yes, I did put Ava to bed, so it was all good). As Audrey was walking out of the room I asked for my hug and kiss for the night and she said she did not want to hug me tonight (she wasn't being ugly, just matter-of-fact about it). I said, "Daddy doesn't get a hug or kiss tonight?" when my beautiful wife piped in with the trump card, "I think the Elf will be sad and tell Santa if you don't give Daddy a hug and kiss." Needless to say, our guilt-ridden child ran over and gave her Daddy a hug and a kiss. Isn't manipulation a beautiful thing (moo-ha-ha-ha) (that's the evil laugh, really cheesy, but you get the drift).The Girl's Visit Santa

Quick Blurbs...Jenny almost died the other night as she tried to fix our Chrismas lights outside that were not working and nearly electricuted herself. I was not around but her mom (a retired nurse) would have been more than capable.
Audrey's spelling is picking up as she can write every letter in the alphabet now and is starting to sound out words and write them down. She spelled CAT and DOG today along with others.
Jesus' Birthday is coming very soon. Audrey is excited as we are going to bake Jesus a cake and celebrate with more than just presents.
Jenny's date with my sister? I made a "play-date", more like a shopping date for Jenny and Stacy the other night and they went on a shopping binge. I believe my wife came home with 9 tops and a pair of pants and now is in love with Anne Taylor Loft.
Audrey wished for snow...and she got it. Grammommy and Grandpa Clay took Audrey to Stone Mountain for the Christmas village. At the end of the night a Snow Angel comes out and tells you if you close your eyes and wish for snow, it will come. Audrey closed her eyes really hard and sure enough, snow fell down from the sky. Needless to say, her eyes were HUGE and her mouth was wide open. She also enjoyed time with the grandparents as she stayed up 4 hours past her bed time (fun times!!!).
Whomever we do not talk to we would like to wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
