I'm excited about Audrey's tball season! As a kid I played softball at a local park, and it's one of my favorite memories from childhood. I loved the team dynamic, the big bucket of bubble gum, the cheers from the dugout and especially the hamburgers from the concession stand. They just taste better at the ballpark for some reason, don't they? Maybe I'm the only one who feels that way....
I remember my little brother and his friends eating their weight in those giant pixie stix and nerd ropes. The smell of those greasy Frito pies is etched into my nose. I'll never forget winning the championship game and my sprint from my position in left center field to leap into the coach's arms during the celebration! Then there were the years my dad coached....the infamous "Peaches." I still have my orange jersey with my name on the back :) i love that one of my teammates from that year lives in my neighborhood and her daughter will be playing at the same park.
This year we start an adventure. Audrey's first step into competitive sports. Competition comes naturally to her...it oozes out of her pores, in fact. She inherited a pretty strong dose from both sides of the family. I'm hopeful that this year will be a teaching opportunity....a time to teach her to work hard, to compete, to win the "right" way, to lose with grace, to share with teammates, to follow instructions, to learn from those more skilled than she is, and to cheer for those that aren't. I'm looking forward to watching her learn all the rules of the game...she's big on rules. :)
Audrey's not the only one in for an adventure...I am too. I signed up to be team mom. Yep....me. Forgetful, procrastinating me. This ought to be interesting !
Play ball! See you at the park!

I am in shock. A blog entry from Jenny? YES! You are back! Please keep it up, I miss hearing about all your adventures. And ball park pickles are without question the best pickles in the whole world :)
P.S. Your tacky Christmas goodies are sitting in a bag right next to me. We will have to meet up soon so I can hand over the goods.
You're a great writer! I'm so glad you're blogging. I think I will "follow" you! :-)
I always enjoyed your reading your blogs. So glad you "back".
I am sorry I never acknowledged your update...it certainly isn't indicative of how VERY excited I was to see you "back" as a blogger. You are, afterall, "back..." you can't tease us with just one update!! Says me!
